WEEKEND DILEMMA

By Omugbe prisca - August 03, 2018

The weekend is almost here and I am really excited. I recall my love for weekends when I was much younger, I eagerly looked forward to weekends because I knew it was going to be awesome spending a great time with mummy and daddy! (I still can't get over some of my childish behaviour though). I was the definition of being playful when I was much younger.

Incase you don't know, I had my early childhood in Delta State, Ughelli to be precise (a town very close to warri). Though my parents had restrictions about associating with children in the neighborhood because they did not want any problems, I and my younger sister always found our way out. If you know the games am about to mention then you had a great and fun filled childhood; "police catch their" (hide and seek), game box, "mopo de sweet but e de suffer", "suwe game", "names of food, animal, place or things", "rubber game", "Biro game", "counter game" (the cover of soft drink), cooking with sand, "building sand castles", "building blocks game", "acting drama", "ukoh game", "who is in the garden", "tiko tiko game", "football", "grass game", "our grandmother has a can waist", "hair making for dolls", I could go on and on, the list is endless. I know you are surprised right, remember I said I was the definition of being playful lol.

I enjoyed playing rough with my dad. I remember my mum always shouting "ose oke, you would wound that child oh and my hand is not there" (ose means father in my local language Isoko and oke is my Isoko name which means gift). "oke leave your father alone, don't cry to me when you are injured".

Now the demands of adulthood has become overwhelming as I barely have time during weekends. I have lots of work to finish up during weekends meanwhile I realized I was beginning to feel depressed and wasn't thinking straight, I knew I needed to ease myself of so much tension.

In the midst of this, finding time to relax and have fun is very essential and can not be over emphasized; it's healthy and helps you ease the tension from work. I try as much as possible to make few weekends remarkable by doing one or more of the following:

1. Playing games (indoor or outdoor) .
2. Hanging out with family or friends.
3. Seeing a movie in the cinema.
4. Visiting the gym or jog.
5. Exploring new meals.
6. Attending wedding parties! (owambe)
7. Visiting new places.

Will also love to share a visual story of a typical weekend for me.

I suggest the same for you, regardless of your schedule always find time to rest and have fun.

will love to get feedbacks on what you love doing during weekends.
